Outdoor Classroom Day is a global campaign to celebrate and inspire outdoor learning and play! On Thursday November 1st, join Nature Play SA and thousands of schools around the country prioritising playtime and taking lessons outdoors.

Outdoor Classroom Day is a day to celebrate and encourage outdoor learning and play.
On Thursday 1 November 2018, thousands of schools around Australia will prioritise playtime and take lessons outdoors.

Why? Outdoor education improves children’s health, engages them with learning and leads to a greater connection with nature. Play fosters resilience, teamwork and creativity and is integral to children’s enjoyment of childhood.  Children are increasingly over-scheduled, over protected and dependant on screen-time. This is why it’s more crucial than ever to get children outdoors.

It’s easy to get involved and there really is something for everyone.

If you’re a teacher, educator or school administrator who is new to outdoor learning, why not use Outdoor Classroom Day to give it a go? Or, if you’re already involved in outdoor learning, use the day to celebrate your approach and inspire other teachers around the world to join in.

If you’re a parent, talk to your child’s school about the importance of outdoor learning and play. Ask them how they will be involved and offer to help on the day if they need a little support.

If you work for an organisation that cares about children, nature, education or the environment, speak to us about how you can get involved.

There’s lesson plans, posters, inspiration, hints and tips – everything you need to celebrate an unforgettable Outdoor Classroom Day!
