NATURE PLAY EVENTS
Nature Play SA partners with councils, state government, education providers, local businesses, and corporate partners to deliver nature play events for local communities.
With a vision to connect children with nature through outdoor learning and play, we deliver events ranging from small school holiday programs, bespoke events, to major partnership events for thousands of families.
Our events engage families and groups in nature through play, creativity, curiosity, meaningful experiences in nature, and open-ended play.

Myponga Reservoir Reserve Open Day

Myponga Reservoir Reserve Open Day
Join us for a FREE fun-filled morning at the Myponga Reservoir Reserve Grand Opening!
There will be kite flying, junk play and a children’s play area. Trail Run SA will be joined by South Australian Olympic marathon runner Jessica Trengove as they open the trails with a social run or walk with varying distances. Trees for Life will run hands-on sessions on identifying native habitats and species and propagating new plants, as well as host guided walks with tips for bird watching and hiking.
We are excited to be teaming up with Reservoirs South Australia to offer the first public glimpse into this beautiful landscape.
Equipped with beautiful walks, picturesque scenery and an array of plants and wildlife – it’s an ideal place for families to explore, have a picnic and immerse themselves in the natural surrounds.
Then as we wind down in the afternoon, Nature Play SA are offering a series of guided experiences including:
Nature Walks: the natural wonders of Myponga Reservoir Reserve
Come on a nature walk where you will learn about some of plants and animals that call the reservoir home. From mistletoe mysteries to the lives of frogs it will be a fascinating insight into the natural world. Please wear enclosed shoes and bring along sun protection and water. The walk will be approximately 1.5 km with predominantly gently sloped ground. All terrain strollers suitable.
Ages 5 +
Duration 45mins
2 sessions (1:00 pm until 1.45 pm and 2:00 pm until 2.45 pm)

Meet inside the Myponga Reservoir Reserve entrance at the end
of Hansen St, Myponga
Geocaching in Myponga Reservoir Reserve: where technology meets nature
Join the Nature Play SA team along with Active Education as we show families the ropes of how to geocache. Geocaching is a fun and interactive approach to using technology in nature. We will supply GPS units on the day and guide you through finding our hidden caches.
Please wear enclosed shoes and bring along sun protection and water. The walk will be approximately 1.5 km with predominantly gently sloped ground. All terrain strollers suitable.
Ages 6 + (no prior experience needed)
Duration 45mins
2 sessions (1:00 pm until 1.45 pm and 2:00 pm until 2.45 pm)

Bird Watching over the Myponga Reservoir
Come and learn about the birds that call Myponga Reservoir home or migrate from other places across the world. We will have a bird expert to tell you about the birds that you can spot through binoculars that will be available to use on the day. Ideal for young budding bird watchers. Please wear enclosed shoes and bring along sun protection and water. The walk will be approximately 500 metres with predominantly flat ground.
Ages 6 + (no prior experience needed)
Duration 45mins
2 sessions (1:00 pm until 1.45 pm and 2:00 pm until 2.45 pm)
