Jason has been integral to Nature Play SA since its inception, driving the nature play movement in South Australia. He has a background in conservation management, community development and education and he is dedicated to fostering relationships between communities and the natural environment to support wellbeing.
Jason is a storyteller, and loves listening to the stories and wisdom of Aboriginal peoples as he connects with Country. He is passionate about conservation and in 2021 was awarded a certificate of commendation for education and engagement as part of the inaugral Pelzer Prize.
“Meeting Dr Jane Goodall felt surreal. I was fortunate to hear her speak at Cleland Wildlife Park as part of her ‘Reasons for Hope’ speaking tour. Hearing Dr Goodall talk of hope was inspiring. Her passion glowed, her humility shined, and every word resonated. “Young people are our reason for hope’, she said. It was an emotionally moving event, especially in the lead-up to World Environment Day, and one I won’t soon forget. As an advocate for children’s right to access the outdoors for learning and play, and specifically opportunities to strengthen their connection to the natural world, I couldn’t agree more with her words. We have a responsibility to guide and support young people on a journey to heal our communities, our environment and our planet. They are our reason for hope.”
Where Birds Sing and Wildflower’s Dance (written by Jason and gifted to Dr Jane Goodall) received a commendation for the 2021 Pelzer Prize in the education and engagement category.
