Our flagship event held in the picturesque Kuitpo Forest

The forest will come alive once again in April 2027 as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Forest Festival.

Forest Festival Kuitpo Wirra Inparri

In 2027, Nature Play SA is excited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Forest Festival, welcoming thousands of families to the beautiful Kuitpo Forest. This much-loved community event is held during the April school holidays and is designed for children aged 0–12 years.

Over two days, the forest comes alive with more than 20 nature-based experiences, including nature education activities, Aboriginal art workshops, cubby building, adventure skills, reading tents, potions, and many other opportunities for children to make, create and explore. Food trucks, market stalls, information booths and a main stage featuring a diverse range of live performances create a welcoming, fun-filled atmosphere for the whole family.

Dates for the 2027 Forest Festival will be announced soon.

Visitor feedback

The enthusiastic staff and the gentle respectful way the children were taught about nature as well as the opportunity to use their imaginations. Thank you for creating Forest Festival!

We spent much longer building cubbies in the forest than I ever would have expected to and it was a lot of fun and peaceful for everyone in our group.

In the forest! The relaxed atmosphere and connecting the kids with nature with likeminded people. It’s so easy to get caught up in the electronic world we now live in. This connected me and made me feel so wholesome again- we wish we could do this every weekend!

I went with my daughter and her partner and my two grandsons. We had the best day out full of fun and learning. We loved it.

There was so much for all children to do! My son is neurodiverse and this is the first event he’s been able to attend from start to finish. He strengthened his understanding of nature and Aboriginal culture which was amazing!! He was so engaged, and we had heaps of fun.

This is one of the most well-thought-out events we have attended. The open areas allow space to breath, the kids get to run and immerse themselves wholeheartedly. Activity wait times are never too long. We just wished this was done in spring too.

One of the highlights of our school holidays! My kids love to attend the forest festival, connect with nature (disconnect from technology) and make lifelong memories.
